So, I’ve been job searching for the last several weeks. I’ve posted my resume to companies but I keep getting letters indicating that they are going with someone else. The one downside to this is that they don’t tell me why I am being rejected as a candidate. These letters come from different types of companies and different industries, so it’s hard to understand what’s going on.

It would be great if those looking for workers would indicate why they are rejecting an application. Is there something wrong with the resume I sent over? Maybe it’s my social media presence? Who knows?

As someone who is actively looking for work and is able to start literally tomorrow, it’s hard to understand why I am being rejected without some form of an explanation. If you’re an employer who somehow comes across this post, please do me a favor and let applicants know why you are rejecting their interest in your job. As job seekers, we want to know what we can do to gain that employment with your company. Without telling us the reason why we are being passed over for someone else, we can’t get better. We can’t improve our resume or our presence online, if that’s the reason we’re being passed over, unless we get that feedback.

Even if you pass on us, letting us know what the issue is will help us to either update our profile or determine if there is another company that shares our values.
